George Shenusay

Watershed Resilience VISTA

George Shenusay is an environmental scientist focused on sustainability, climate resilience, and waste systems. He currently serves as a Watershed Resilience VISTA with Hawaiʻi Green Growth and the UN Local2030 Hub on Oʻahu, supporting watershed resilience and community-based sustainability projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His work brings together hands-on experience in recycling, data analysis, and community outreach. He has worked with Precious Plastic to turn plastic waste into usable products, and previously supported environmental analysis and mapping for contamination and air quality projects. At Athens Services, he helped implement SB-1383 based food waste composting programs across Los Angeles. George also spent two years in Japan with the JET Programme, where he taught English and worked closely with local schools and communities. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles. His interests include reducing food waste, improving urban systems, and finding practical ways to reuse materials.
