Lily McGovern, serving as the Communications and Outreach VISTA, supports Hawai’i Green Growth’s work as a UN Local2030 Hub through communications, partner and community engagement, and outreach on local and global sustainability goals. Lily holds a B.A. in Environmental Policy from Middlebury College, where she focused her studies on the interaction between human health and the environment and its implications for policymaking. In college, she served on the Middlebury Environmental Council, interned with the Innovation Hub, and frequently volunteered at Middlebury’s community garden, the Knoll. Her previous professional experience includes supporting constituent services for U.S. Senator Ed Markey and conducting research at RMI, a climate-focused think tank, where she helped develop strategies to expand access to affordable, sustainable home energy solutions. She is especially interested in sustainable food and wellbeing policy, and looks forward to using communications as a tool to inspire action. Lily believes in the importance of spending time outdoors, and she's excited to find meaningful ways to engage with her new community during her service year.
