Policy 101 Workshop for Youth Advocates
February 28th, 2026 | 10:00am - 2:00pm
UH Mānoa Campus Center Executive Dining Room OR Virtual
Students can expect an introduction to the ins and outs of the legislative process, from bill introduction all the way through implementation and accountability. Using the Community Co-management bills (HB2218, SB2979, and SB2685) as examples, students will learn how to understand a bill from its inception, its connections to existing policy and its implications, and the importance of community input in this process. Finally, participants will practice advocacy skills for communicating with legislators through letter writing, phone calls, and conversations.
The workshop will be co-hosted by Hawaiʻi Green Growth, KUA, Hawaiʻi Public Policy Advocates, Care for ʻĀina Now, and Resources Legacy Fund, and is targeted at youth aged 15-20 (but all are welcome to attend).
Free to attend!
