Michael P. Hamnett, PhD, has 30 years of research, technical assistance, and planning experience in the Pacific Islands region. He has organized and managed over 40 major projects for Pacific Island governments, the State of Hawaii, and US government agencies focusing on energy, climate variability and change, application of climate information to decision-making, ocean and coastal resource and environmental management, and disaster preparedness and mitigation. He has served as Principal Investigator on projects to assess the impact of climate variability on water resource management, health, fisheries, disaster management and other social, economic, and environmental problems in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands region.
